IMMER NIE IN CHINA

konzeptionelle Malerei von Alexandra Bolzer

China ist in aller Munde, sämtliche Medien berichten zahlreich von den Mißständen einer ganzen Nation, dem Regime, und dessen grausame Taten gegen Minderheiten aber auch über ein phänomenales Wachstum der Wirtschaft oder deren Umweltsünden. China polarisiert die westliche Welt. Die Arbeiten von Alexandra Bolzer beschäftigen sich mit den Individuen in China, dessen Jahrtausend alte Kultur, die Armut und Not, aber sie stellt auch die heutigen Veränderungen in Frage. Ihre Protagonisten werden farblich reduziert dargestellt, das Schwarz – weißdenken ansprechend weist sie auf die einseitige Darstellung der Medien hin und die damit verbundene Klischeebildung. Einzig die zarte mintgrüne Farbe des Hintergrunds symbolisiert die Hoffnung der Betroffenen, deren Not pragmatische Zufriedenheit mit den Umständen mit sich bringt.

Bolzers aktuelle Arbeit beschäftigt sich generell mit den Auswirkungen des engen Geflechts Politik-Megakapitalismus-Globalisierung auf das Individuum. Der urbane Raum transformiert sich zur Folie gesellschaftlicher Befindlichkeiten. In diese Folie eingebrannt sind Klischees, Vorurteile und tradierte Rollenbilder, vor denen sich ihre Protagonisten seltsam fremd, isoliert und verloren wiederfinden

The new art project of Alexandra Bolzer is a profound cooperation with the carinthian philosopher Peter Goricnik. Goricnik’s work delves into the works of surrealist philosophers like Georges Bataille, who’s theorie of modernity created the legendary man without a head.

This man without a head is a symbol of the non-sovereignty of the sanity. He explains this Acephali i. a. with the exceptinal theory: The Age of Enlightenment must enlighten itself.

Goricnik’s moving antithesis for this is the libidinous bird woman as a model of society in accordance with the egalitarian principle connected to matriarchy. The Pigeon symbolizes the spirit and the beauty of the goddess of wisdom: Sophia.

Bolzer explores this thesis with her profound, contemporary visual language that was specifically designed for this purpose. Her result will be a new series of works as a result of this research and exploration.

„A small Story about Love“

„A Small Story About Love“ will be  a book for children aged 8+ and

the project is about financing the illustrations and a bilingual version in german and english.

The STORY:

Each year, there ist the „Festival oft the Donkey-Ear“ on the island of Le Sél: with grey , stubborn animals, prickly balloons, professors of emotion and lots and of books and tales. The book is about reading, donkeys, dog-ears, donkey-ears and of course very much about love. Sandro does not really like Sanja. She is much to clever and most of all, she is a girl. But the prickly balloon likes Sanja all the more. Unfortunately, he cannot talk and tell her…

 

 

This book combines three artistic fields: 

  1. The text (Peter Bosch) combines realistic with imaginative elements, everything is familiar and yet a bit different, out of place.
  2. The illustrations (Alexandra Bolzer) evolve from the story, complement the story elaborately and take you by surprise with a diversity of different styles and materials.
  3. The typography (Nele Focke) has its autonomous role, makes references to the illustrations and the text as well and so creates an additional visual and aesthetic layer.

 

Why should you support this project?

Everybody who can still remember how inspiring childrens‘ books can be and how much pedagogical value good children’s literature has, should support this project.

 

What happens with the funds after successful financing?

We need the money in order to produce high quality illustrations and typography to appropriately interpret and complement the story, which is an enormous task ahead.

AND: if we do have enough money left we will translate the book from the german version in bilingual version (german / english) too
