Immer nie in China
ALWAYS NEVER IN CHINA
conceptual painting by Alexandra Bolzer
China is on everyone’s lips. The media report the numerous abuses in the whole nation, the abuses of a regime, and its cruel acts against minorities. But they also report on China’s phenomenal economic growth and the resulting environmental sins.
China is polarizing the western world.
The works of Alexandra Bolzer deal with the individuals in China, with the millennia-old culture of the country and with the poverty and hardship there. Bolzer questions today’s changes. Their protagonists are presented in reduced colors, revealing the black – and – white way of thinking, pointing out the one – sided presentation of the media and the consequent cliché. Only the delicate mint green color of the background symbolizes the hope of those affected whose need brings pragmatic satisfaction within the circumstances.
